The Sons and Daughters of Migrants: Italy's Second Generations

The American University of Rome's Center for Research on Racism in Italy
will hold its third conference on November 13, 2009 on The Sons and
Daughters of Migrants: Italy's Second Generations.

The conference will discuss the contemporary roles, experiences and voices
of the offspring of migrants to Italy. It will examine questions such as:
the inadequacies of Italian citizenship laws; the portrayal of the second
generations in the media; the responses of the Italian education system;
questions of identity; the spaces for self-representation and cultural
exchange; the role of second generation authors. In addition to the
scholarly presentations, journalists, authors and activists will also be
invited.

The conference will be held in English.
